Apple’s WWDC 2020, is scheduled to be held online on June 22, 10:30 pm IST. WWDC is the biggest developer event of Apple. And this year, it is going to be the first-ever online WWDC due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Let’s take a look at what are the things that Apple might launch in this year’s WWDC. Do keep in mind that all these are expected and not confirmed at all. So, take these things with a pinch of salt.
Refreshed Apple TV
Apple might have a refresh to its Apple TV featuring the A12X Bionic chipset, new storage options, and a redesigned remote.
New Apple TV 4K with A12X – 64GB/128GB ready to ship. 👀
Codename: Neptune T1125
Another one of those things that could drop any time. Apple got no chill right now 😬😂
I’ll let you know if/when I hear a date. Who knows, maybe Apple can keep it a secret from me 🤗

There are rumors floating around that Apple willfully redesigns the iMac with smaller bezels and will also put their FaceID into it. It might feature a T2 security chip with AMD Navi Graphics and SSD. The new iMacs are rumored to be powered by Intel’s new Comet Lake chipsets.
ARM-based chips in Macs. This rumor has been floating around in the market for a very long time. Reports suggest that it will be announced at WWDC 2020. According to a Bloomberg report, Apple will unveil ARM-chip for the Macs at the conference. However, that doesn’t mean they will launch a new Macs. The first ARM-based Macs are expected to arrive at some time in 2021 or maybe in 2022.
The first ARM chips for the Macs may have 12-cores. There might be 8 high-performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. ARM chips will offer better efficiency, which should result in better battery life on MacBooks.
Other Rumoured Hardware Announcements
The company might unveil Tile-like AirTags. AirTags will be small and rounded, and will be integrated directly with the Find My app. Rumours are that an AR component to AirTags will help you find lost objects using AR.
Like Bose and Sony, Apple might unveil their own headphones reported to be called the AirPods Studio. Surely the price will be high and rumors are that it will be priced around $349. There might be a more affordable version of the AirPods Studio aimed at fitness use-cases. The headphones should come with ANC, equalizer settings, and much more. There are also reports that they will have nech detection feature to automatically play/pause music.
Now let’s see the software side of things
iOS 14 and iPadOS 14
There won’t be any major changes but we will see some minor improvements here and there such as tweaks in Home Screen and support for widgets. However, there are also rumors that Apple will rename iOS 14 to iPhoneOS 14. Somehow, it seems believable as last year we got iPadOS. So, it might happen.
What I’ve been told about widgets in iOS 14:
No current internal builds actually feature home-screen widgets, nor is there a feature flag for engineers.
– Apple has been working on this
– Third-party widgets in Control Center also an option
Probably more for iOS 15. pic.twitter.com/gfB3N5Ya7F

New iMessage Features
The biggest feature will be a new typing indicator for group chats. So, you will be able to know who is typing in a group.
Also, iMessage might get support for mentions. This will let you mention specific people in group chats to grab their attention to a message.
Improved Find My
You will now be able to set alerts if a person doesn’t reach a specific place at a specific time. This will be handy in a bunch of cases where safety is the concern.
iCloud Keychain Improvements
Apple Pencil might be getting some updates. The main thing is that I will now be able to use the Pencil to write text in any text field. You fill up forms by simply writing in them. iPad will automatically convert handwritten text into standard text before sending the forms. It seems a pretty handy feature and I am definitely looking forward to it.
For this, we don’t know a lot, but there have not been many leaks and reports about macOS 10.16. However, there will be some minor improvements such as in iMessage of the mac. There have been reports that the Messages app on the Mac will be replaced by a Catalyst version of iOS’ Messages app. This means we will get all the new iMessage features on the Mac as well.
There won’t be any major updates, but the most obvious feature update will be sleep tracking. Sleep tracking could finally be natively available on the Apple Watch. But this could be a bummer as the battery life in Apple Watches is not that great. So, let’s see what Apple does.
The new watchOS might also feature a kids-mode. This will measure movement time instead of calorie burn. Reportedly, it will have a new SchoolTime feature. This feature will allow parents to decide what apps are available to the kid and restrict other apps during specified school hours.
In a long shot, we can only tell that Apple TV will get a Fitness app, similar to the one on iOS 14.
There are also rumors of a new ‘permanent audio’ option which will let you set a HomePod or another speaker as the permanent output device for the Apple TV. Apple TV might also get Screen Time this year, so you can track TV watching habits.
